Derpy Hooves from My Little Pony is a light bluish-gray pegasus pony who first appeared as a background character in the pilot episode.

She is cross-eyed, a characteristic originally due to an animation error. She received a speaking role in the Season 2 episode "The Last Roundup", where Rainbow Dash refers to her as "Derpy"; the episode was re-released later, with Rainbow Dash's use of the term "Derpy" removed from the episode.

Afterwards, she continues to appear as a background character. In her current appearance, Derpy is clumsy, cheerful, and always willing to help, but usually gets in the way. Derpy was named as "Derpy Hooves" by the budding fandom on 4chan after witnessing the animation error, and has since become a kind of mascot for the fandom as a whole.
Derpy makes a cameo appearance as a human at the end of the spin-off movie, My Little Pony: Equestria Girls. In Rainbow Rocks, she competes in the musical showcase playing the saw.
